Artwork
The term Umwelt was applied to biology in the late 19th century by the controversial Baltic German zoologist, Jakob von Uexkull. He used the term to the describe the unique sensory worlds in which animals live. He also believed all animals are sentient. With each painting in this series I have written a 500 - 600 word essay describing some of each creature’s "Umwelt." The paintings are acrylic on glue-sized linen, 24” x 18”.
