This project focused on elders of Benedictine monastic communities throughout the United States. Leaders of monasteries nominated members and I traveled to 30 communities nation-wide interviewing and photographing the elders. The 30” X 30” mixed media on canvas paintings and interviews were then developed at my studio. The interviews focus on the moral and spiritual aspects of the elder’s lives. Their responses gave wise and compassionate counsel for people of any faith. The project is available in book form (black and white images of portraits). This project is in the collection of the Visual Art Center, Washington Pavilion, Sioux Falls SD.
