Paula Modersohn-Becker Still Life: Small Venus Bust and Apricot –acrylic on paper, 16″ X 12″, 2016, Mark W. McGinnis — Paula Modersohn-Becker was an early German expressionist and sometimes called the first woman modern artist. Much of her work focused on women and children. In 1907 at the age of 31 she tragically died 18 days after the birth of her first child.
